  • ABSTRACT

Quantitative studies on population dynamics and life history traits of key species (characterized by high interspecific interaction) are useful to predict changes in the structure and organization of biological communities. Here is reported the interannual abundance of variability of a benthic omnivore, the fireworm Hermodice carunculata (Pallas, 1766), from a well-known fireworm hotspot in the Salento peninsula (Santa Caterina di Nardò, Ionian Sea), Italy.
